Tell us what is wrong with TELUS!

It seems that for whatever reason, the entire TELUS Mobility network is down. Any call made from a mobile phone or to one from a landline appears to go nowhere. So far the problem seems to be Edmonton-specific.

Oh. I know the numbers. However, any TELUS person I call is affected by this.

right, but that's where you'll find the best answer. And you can always call from a landline or payphone, hence the offer of the second number.

Enh. No need to call if this affects the whole network. I'll likely get the answer I assume. :)

Oddness...I used my cell a fair bit tonight and it was connecting...is it just during a specific time? I stopped phoning around 9ish...

I left around 9 PM to go back home and it was then when I realised something was up. I got one lone "circuits are busy" message. However, it seems that data is still going through.

Not just Edmonton specific. I'm in Fort McMurray and our cells are out too!

Weird. My girlfriend in Fort Saskatchewan and my friend in Spruce Grove have TELUS and their phones were working.

Yup. Fort Saskatchewan is fine, I can confirm that. I've phoned with my cell to a landline within the town here. Everything is fine here.

you know.. for the landline, i am pretty sure shaw cable isnt charging for hookup fees to people that are with telus and wanting to switch over to them.. their rates are amazing and they are amazing for service... they even give you the first month free..

Ah. Well, I work for a company that specializes in VoIP and because of that, I prefer TELUS. :)

I just know better. :)

Telus has being having other problems too lately. They support ATB, too, and everything (ABMs, POS, online banking) went down one Saturday about a month ago.

Oh. I know of their problems.

And you still prefer Telus? \:|

Yup. Regardless, Shaw still interfaces with TELUS or any telephone company's PSTN due to the need for access to the rest of the telephone network.

Add the fact, in the event of a power outage, you're still going to have residential telephone service for more than two hours (the average life of a cable modem battery). To be exact, most places in Alberta have about 96-hours of maximum uptime when there is a power outage affecting the telephone co-locations. So provided you have at least a single corded phone, you're going to have a working phone unless the power outage is longer in which case you'd have bigger things to worry about.

Coaxial cable is not capable of delivering electricity over the line with the current setup, so in the end, I would prefer TELUS over Shaw due to redundancy.

It was doing it to me today. I was trying to call some of my employees today and I kept on getting "This call could not be connected." or "This connection has been dropped."
